The way Hoodia Gordonii Works

The Story of Hoodia Gordonii

Hoodia Gordonii has different appellations such as called hoodia, xhooba, khoba, Ghaap, hoodia cactus, and South African desert cactus. In fact, the only thing that makes it similar to a cactus is its sharp prickles.

On account of its extraordinary power to repress hunger, Hoodia easily attracts the world attention. The CBS television news program, 60 Minutes, and the British network, BBC have already broadcasted many interviews with scientist on the effect of Hoodia.

Hoodia grows in the desert of South Africa, Angola, Namibia and also Botswana.

Usually 5 or 6 years are needed in order Hoodia's flowers show up. Only after this, it is ready to be consumed. Generally, more than 40 different types of Hoodia exist. However, only the Gordonii is known to repress human hunger.

Today's explorers discovered Hoodia Gordonii lately while the San people and Bushmen have been using it as food for a very long time. Exactly these local men, who subsist on the land, customarily cut off piece of the stalk and eat it so that they do not feel hungry or thirsty as well as for several medical purposes which haven't yet been studied.

During 1937, a Dutch research worker, exploring the San people, perceived that they ate Hoodia to avoid appetite. But the actual exploration of Hoodia began as late as the 1963. The first results were quite hopeful - lab animals began growing thin after swallowing Hoodia Gordonii.

The scientists at CSIR spent almost 30 years of intensely studying Hoodia, when they finally manage to separate its active ingredient and gained a patent on the molecule in 1995. It is a steroidal glycoside which they called P57. Later the South African government licensed it to the British company Phytopharm.

Consequently, Phytopharm licensed it to the famous American farm Pfizer. Pfizer wanted to use the molecule to create a synthetic substance that would please the needs of people round the world. Eventually, Pfizer cancel the deal on the grounds of not enough money.

In the end of 2004, Phytopharm licensed to Unilever who have promised to finish the project and bring Hoodia to the world market. However, until these days they still haven't finished it.

Meanwhile, instead of waiting and waiting for the artificial product, you can benefit from the Hoodia Gordonii Plus, which is available right now. Do not hesitate, make a purchase and start liking your body again.
